To find tithi:
To find tithi of particular day:
1.       Find(moon’s longitude –sun’s longitude),
  Add 360deg if found negative,
  It shows  answer in deg. how moon is ahead  of sun.
2.       Divide result by 12deg.
   Add 1 to quotient  only, ignoring the remainder.
  We get number between  1-30.
3.       this number is nothing but tithi.
4.       We easily can find name of tithi , by looking in tithi table.
  Suppose its 3, that means  tritiya  which is sukla  paksha.
   We  call this as “sukla  tritiya”.

Lunar month:

In lunar month there are 30 days each day is  called as tithi.

Tithi in nothing but difference between longitude of moon and that of sun.
When sun and moon are at same longitude on one lunar month starts. Which include 30 days/tithis.
1st thithi = 12 deg deference betn sun and moon longitudes
2nd tithi = 24 deg deference betn sun and moon longitudes
..
..so on.
30th tithi is where diff. between moon and sun is 360 deg., where moon catches sun again and starts new lunar month.

Again lunar month divided into 2 pakshas.
Sukla paksha and Krishna paksha.
In sukla paksha ,moon is ahead of sun upto 180 deg. Also called waxing moon.
In krisha paksha ,moon ahead of sun between 180 to 360 deg. also called as wanning moon.


 from 1st -15th tithi included in sukla paksha.
remaing from 16th-30th included in krishna paksha.

Solar year=1 year=365 days, sun moves by  360 deg.
Thus 1 day = 1 deg. Movement by sun.
Solar calendar involved ,12 moth calendar , starting from January to December.

Hora means hour.

Day = 24 hrs

Day is divided into 24 equal parts called as hora.

These horas are ruled by main seven planets.
i.e sun,moon,mars,mercury,Jupiter,venus,Saturn.

Now if today is Wednesday then first hora (hour) of this day i.e today is ruled by mercury .

Also lords of hora come in order according to their decreasing speed with respect to earth.
I.e Saturn, Jupiter, Mars, Sun, Venus, Mercury and Moon.

So for Wednesday 1st hora is of mercury , 2nd of moon…so on as stated in above order.
